This is a heart shaped wooden "poya" with the inscription "Bienvenue" or "Welcome" in French. "Poya" is a word that means ascend. This term is used in Switzerland to signify the annual ascent and descent of the cows to/from Alpine pastures. Many villages celebrate this yearly event by parading the cows through the town decorated with flowers, traditional dress, music and food.
